Birb

Bonus picture: Pied Butcher Bird. This is one of a breeding pair that hangs out in our garden, they raised two chicks this year. The chicks are now Jerk Teenagers who come and sit on my washing and sing at each other for hours and hours. It's quite lovely, actually (video).

Garden Frand: A Lizard

Behold, my garden. Tomatoes in the front, bananas at the back, god only knows what everywhere else. But there is a wee friend to be found, hiding in the mulch. See if you can spot it:

Welcome!

 Welcome!

This community is to share our experiences with wild creatures in urban settings. Whether it's the lorikeets in the fruit trees, the possum in your roof, or the fruit-bats blackening the sky, this is a place to celebrate and share the strength and resilience of our wild creatures.

This community is for Australian wildlife - native or invasive. Please refrain from posting pictures of pets or livestock.

Photos and videos are especially welcome. Please put spookier creatures like spiders and snakes under a cut.

Feel free to just tell your stories, too. Photos are great but not required.

Please let us know roughly where you are - the wildlife in Brisbane is going to be different than the wildlife in Bega, after all. It's also great to tag your posts. Use plurals ("insects") and a general location ("brisbane"). It'll help us find content later.

There is beauty in the margins. Let's find it.
